Your Reading Goals for 2022
Posted on January 18, 2022
Have you set a reading goals for 2022?
If you’re new to the online book communities, it can seem that unless you’re reading 200 books a year, you’re goals aren’t valid. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Wherever you’re at, setting a goal to keep reading throughout the year is a fantastic way to ensure you’re taking time for yourself, for personal growth and to switch off from the real world (and devices!).
Here are our tips for getting started…
Set a realistically ambitious target
Whether you’re hoping to read 100 books in 2022 or 10, your goal needs to be a realistic yet ambitious challenge. If you’re struggling to fit in a few minutes to read here and there, it is unlikely that setting yourself the task of 100 books will come to fruition. Work out what you want to achieve by December 31st regardless of what other people set for themselves.
Track and share your progress
Having a community to not only celebrate your achievements is absolutely invaluable with any goal that you set. Why? Because they will also hold you to task! Thankfully, the reading community has a ready-made set of tools to do just that.
From goodreads to bookstagram to reddit, you can track your reading progress with ease, privately and publicly.
Find inspiration
There’s little point setting a quantitative goal for the year, if you’ve no idea what to actually read! Keep an eye on the bookish communities like #bookstagram and goodreads to find inspiration for your latest reads. Check out your local bookstore, join a book club (there are loads of virtual and in-person options now), or chat to your friends about what they’re reading too.
Enjoy yourself!
Reading shouldn’t be a laborious task. Setting a goal is a way to maintain a habit and encourage personal growth, if that becomes a stressor in your life, it’s time to reassess your goal, draw a line in the sand and take it from there.
