Writers’ Club
Posted on July 20, 2021
Take a look around you. Scroll through social media. It is clear that we are tired. We’ve had enough of lockdowns, of anxiety, of uncertainty.
The pandemic has changed us. There are no two ways about it.
For many in England, this week is for celebrating. Lockdown is finally fully lifted. Restrictions are over. For others, it is a time of worry and frustration.
Wherever you stand, this turbulence can have a massive impact on you as a writer. With little to no travel, limited social interactions and one story dominating the news, how do you get the creative juices flowing to write about anything other than a pandemic!
That’s why we are starting a writers’ club over on Instagram.
The Marylebone Publishing Writers’ Club
We’ll be posting story cues using the hashtag #MPWritersClub; ideas to spark a bit of inspiration to write a sentence, a paragraph or even an entire book. Whatever you feel like writing at the time.
These cues will be wide enough to write as fiction or factual – whatever your bag is!
It’s not just about finding inspiration though. We’re creating a space for writers – you – to dip your toe into sharing your work. A safe space to get feedback on your writing. A place to build up confidence in your skills and learn from one another. That’s the plan, anyway!
I’d love for you to post your shorter responses in the comments on the Writers’ Club Instagram posts, or even a link to copy and paste to read a longer post. Use this space to get feedback on your writing, ask any questions you may have and inspire others to keep writing.
We’ll host competitions and challenges with exclusive prizes and opportunities now and then too.
Hopefully this will help smash through the dreaded writer’s block too.
